Default Asking Exp PvP'ers Point of View

Ok, so I'm not a hardcore PvP'er. Yes I pvp, I'm r6 luxon title and almost r1 glad, if i am looking for a quick battle or a quick go on GW i usually head over to RA, i also go here to build up Balth factions for my hero's skills. I like to think i semi skilled at pvp and run a BA ranger build. Pretty standard. Most my experinces in RA are good, yes you come across some dodgy builds, but last night something happend that concerned me, and i was just wondering what the view of experienced RA goer's as the player in question reckoned he was one...

First round in RA, there was me Ranger, ele, mes and a derv ( the player in question ) as soon as we're there the derv resigns and repeated asks us all to resign, we dont, i ask him why resign? we havent even started, and he said, we dont have a monk, we cant heal, so we cant win. I was shellshocked, many a time have i won 10 in a row with no monk, i told this 'experienced' PvPer that we can still win, he refused this and went and stood in the lava, killing himself, the game type was score the most in x amount of time, so each time he got rezzed hewent and stood back in the lava.

Obviously we lost. i was just wondering whats the perspective of expereinced RA'ers. If you dont have a healer do you automatically resign/leave? Surely it is counter productive to keep entering to try and be paired with a monk.

Personally, when it gets to the point where I realise our team isn't going to win, I just stop playing. Usually it happens halfway through the game, but sometimes I get a recognisably hopeless team that's not worth trying to win with from the start.

The phrase "experienced RA'er" made me giggle.

I always try, even 4 to 1. Just to test my skills and see how long I/we can hold and how much dmg I/we can do. Sometimes its fun to see what happens. But then again I play for fun, wich seems kinda rare these days...

Would you still at least fight? Or just aimlessly stand there in the lava killing yourself?

From the moment that I realise that we have no chance whatsoever at winning, I will resign.

Killing myself intentionally doesnt happens often tho, altho it does occur:
For example last night when I had this dumb warrior on my team(w/n with ripostes and glad defence, I'm sure you've run into him this weekend), another warrior that began the match with putting mending on.. and a toucher.

When I end up in a team like that -> FRENZY

But I do not resign or go suicidal because there's no monk in the team, if your offense is good enough and you got a good interrupter with you, you can get pretty far. If not, get some kills and gain some faction

EDIT: Do note that I'm no exp PvPer Just a random noob that keeps giving his opinion everywhere

Some people want to farm their glad points in RA >.<
While I understand the logic of the dervish: you may win 1-2 matches, but there's such small chance of getting all 3 glad points there is no point in staying.
If I'm in such position I usually play the game and look what skills my teammates have. E/Mo , N/Rt or Me/Mo healers are pretty common and if you have a bit support there is a good chance you might get to the 10. If there isn't, I play the game and leave afterwards.

If it's on the kill count map and our team gets wiped over and over again, I'll probably bathe in the lava (though it's not really going to speed things up since you have to wait for 0:00 anyway). It's fairly easy to recognise a good no-Monk team so I try and play to win most of the time, until it's apparent that we'll lose.

As a strong RA'er i say:

Don't take anything seriously, run a build you enjoy.

1.) Experienced RAer sounds like an oxymoron.

2.) I have had the same issue before with a guy leaving/resigning. thankfully he didn't stick around and try to make us lose. we ended up winning the match, and then the next 7 in a row. we even stomped the leaver when he HAD a monk on his team. so you don't need a monk to win, you just need to think and take the best you have out there.

it depends on what's on my team and what's on theirs. if my team is full of physicals and we're up against n/me r/mo n/e or some shit i'll just /sigh and die. if, however, my team looks like it might win i'll give it a try. unless there's lots of good caster/melee shutdown or just insane pressure in the team i'll leave at the end if there's no monk/rt healer.

i generally don't ask people to /resign because i know they're scrubs and won't do it :<

i play no matter what. everyone should give it their best shot. pvp is supposed to be a challenge, and every loss is a lesson learned. if you don't go down fighting, well then what's the friggin point? play to pwn - wins are just a bonus. sometimes the odds are stacked heavily in your favor, sometimes they're not. that's just the nature of RA. go in prepared to have no monk and you'll have a much better experience. or go play pve if you can't handle losing, imo. XD

standing in lava until you die just makes you an asshole. any noob could do that. i find that shocking coming from a dervish...mystic regen and natural healing are among the greatest self heals in the game.

That is so freaking annoying, I play monk a lot and often I get 2 or even 3 monk teams.. I keep saying like 100 times during the match to resign, but the other 2 mostly keep healing and eventually die when there's like 1 minute left :S
I mean wtf, why can't you resign if you know you aren't gonna win..

Why does everyone on here bash on "exp ra" players and talk about how stupid that is? It is not. R5 glad player can save an otherwise worthless team. Just seems strange to me that the same ppl that say exp ra players mean nothing but then have no problem when talking about hero rank. They are the same if you have high glad rank it doesn't mean 100% that you are any good but there is a high chance you are...same as having a high hero rank.

It's actually nothing like the same but okey =P. I guess the 'random arena' name doesn't quite give it to you =D.

I always try my best. Now when I see the team we're against is something like a monk, rit, ele, and warrior, and my team is pure melee, I tend to Frenzy -> charge in. On my warrior. On my ranger, I play the entire match through, and due to some really shnazz interrupts I've gotten victories that looked improbable.

In other words, I echo what others have said: try your best, you will improve, while the people who just give up will not.

don't see the point in this -- RA happens to be full of farmers, if they don't want to play, don't play either. usually, if one on your team gives up already, you shouldn't try to win, if anything, try and get a kill for faction, but don't rez up or heal or anything. it's just a waste.

anyways, ye, RA is dumb, we all know..
